Kalgoorlie Pubs

If you want to experience the real outback you cannot miss a visit to a Kalgoorlie Pub. In Australia the outback/country ‘Pub’ is as iconic as the Kangaroo and Footy, and Australia just would not be Australia without its Pubs.

In the Kalgoorlie-Boulder region there are approximately 25 pubs.  With a population of roughly 30,000 people that is a fairly high concentration of pubs and speaks volumes about the central role the pub plays in this community.  In Kalgoorlie  the Pub is not just a place to get a drink, but a place to gather and it always has been.

In Kalgoorlie  several of the pubs are important historical landmarks which feature colonial and federation architecture.  The Palace Hotel is one example of this.  It was built in 1897 and was designed to be the most luxurious hotel outside of Perth.  The building was the first in the area to have its own generator and fresh water to the bathrooms.  Its construction is of stone quarried locally and notably for the times, The Palace Hotel was furnished out of Melbourne.
